Distribution of 345 water tanks across 14 villages in Central Ward.

Elderly and other vulnerable residents of 14 villages in Central Ward, Ndaragwa Sub-County are this evening a jubilant lot after receiving 345 water tanks from His Excellency Governor (Dr.) Moses N. Badilisha Kiarie, each with a capacity of 500 litres.

A grateful Mary-Ann Ngima, 80, from Kamiruri village, said she would no longer walk over long distances in search of clean water, but instead harvest and store the rare commodity whenever it rains.
County Executive Committee Member for Water, Environment, Climate Change and Natural Resources Hon. Samuel Mugo, who made the deliveries, said the move is among the Governor’s ongoing interventions to ensure safe and adequate water across Nyandarua for domestic, irrigation and industrial use.

In response to the Governor’s persistence, His Excellency President (Dr.) William Ruto has in recent weeks also vowed to fast-track construction of Kinja and Pesi mega-dams, both of which are expected to supply water to more than half of Nyandarua’s population.

Present was area Member of the County Assembly Hon. Peter Kagwe, Director of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation Eng. Kimani Mambo and Eng. Joseph Mwangi (Water, Ndaragwa Sub-County).
