The Nyandarua County Heifer Project was successfully launched in the second ward – North Kinangop, where 120 dairy cows were issued to organized groups by His Excellency Governor (Dr.) Moses Kiarie Badilisha.

As part of actualizing his manifesto on dairy improvement, Governor Badilisha assured the groups that this empowerment programme, “one which seeks to transform dairy sector by addressing all value chains, is one of the market-driven interventions which we have realized has quick gains and is a low hanging fruit our people can easily gain from.”

This is the second ward, after Shamata, where this programmed has been implemented and is expected to be replicated in all the 25 wards.

“It’s about changing people’s lives and putting money into their pockets. This is about sustainable development,” the Governor added.

During the ceremony, the County Head issued certificate and by-laws to KIKINA Cooperative Society Limited, a newly established cooperative bringing together Kiambariki, Kitiri and Nandarasi societies. Cooperatives remain a focal enabler of the change agenda, especially in agriculture and value addition.

Present were CECMs Hon. Francis Miring’u, Hon. John Muiru and area MCAs Hon. Edinald King’ori and Hon. Milka Nyambura among other leaders.
