Preparations for establishment of the Nyandarua University

A high level delegation drawn from the University of Nairobi is visiting the county to assess status of infrastructure development and preparedness as preparations for establishment of the Nyandarua University gain momentum. The University of Nairobi has given a commitment to nurture the constituent college into a fully-fledged university.
Hosting the delegation in his office this morning, His Excellency Governor (Dr.) Moses Kiarie Badilisha expressed the county’s willingness and commitment, including that of other stakeholders in the education sector and the political leadership, in seeing the speedy realization of this university dream. Already, Governor Badilisha has held successful deliberations with stakeholders drawn from the education ministry and the Commission for University Education, as well as with local MPs, on fast-tracking this process.
“We just don’t want a university. We want an institution that will address the knowledge gaps in niche areas of crops and animal sciences, sports sciences, and foundational education including in our ECDEs. This will be a premier training institution,” Governor Badilisha stated.
The delegation was led by Prof. Leonidah Kerubo (the Deputy Vice Chancellor – Academic Affairs), accompanied by among others Prof. Moses Nyangito – Dean Faculty of Agriculture, Prof. Jeremiah Kalai (Dean Faculty of Education), Bernard D. Njuguna (Registrar Administration) and a host of other departmental heads drawn from finance, quality assurance, and infrastructure development. Present were several CECMs, MCA Hon. Gathungu Kamau, and other senior officers.
