Operationalization of the Nyandarua County Food and Feed Safety Policy Bill

His Excellency Governor (Dr.) Moses N. Badilisha Kiarie is pushing for the review and operationalization of the Nyandarua County Food and Feed Safety Policy Bill to ensure that food is safely produced, processed, distributed and marketed for human and animal consumption.
Speaking in Ol’Kalou, Chief Officer for Agriculture Mr. David Wakaba said that the policy is informed by the need to promote consumer interests through fair practices in food trade while ensuring economic growth and development.
Through the Bill, the Njabini Agricultural Training Centre (ATC) will be accredited as an Agricultural Technical, Vocational, Educational and Training Center to offer a competence-based curriculum and offer recognized certificates that can be used to get into institutions of higher learning.
The shift, Mr. Wakaba added, will result in recognition of prior learning, including for learners who lack the Kenya Certificate for Secondary Education.
Present was Chief Officer for Livestock and Fisheries Mr. John Kariuki, alongside directors Dr. Teresia Ndung’u (Livestock Production) and Dr. Edward Kanyari (Veterinary Services).
