His Excellency Governor (Dr.) Moses N. Badilisha Kiarie has lauded Nyandarua’s Climate Change Unit for emerging first under the Financing Locally-Led Climate Action (Flocca) program’s Annual Performance Assessment conducted last October.
In remarks delivered on his behalf by His Excellency Deputy Governor Mathara Mwangi in Ol’Kalou, the Governor thanked the team for championing climate resilience and putting Nyandarua on the national map.
Flocca is a World Bank-funded program dedicated to supporting delivery of locally-led climate action by strengthening the capacity of County and National governments to manage climate risk.
County Executive Member for Water, Environment, Climate Change and Natural Resources Hon. Samuel Mugo attributed the success to meticulous community involvement and development of relevant policies, backed by the Deputy Governor’s adept leadership of the County Climate Change Steering Committee.
Present were County Executive Committee Member for Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries Hon. Francis Miring’u and Chief Officer for Environment, Climate Change and Natural Resources Ms. Njeri Njoroge.
