VACANCIES
Pursuant to County Governments Act No. 17 of 2012 Sections 35,36,44 and 45, the Office of the Governor wishes to consider applications from qualified, results- oriented and self-driven Kenyan Citizens for the appointment to the following positions in the County Government of Nyandarua.

  • County Secretary and Head of Public Service

Advert No. NCG – 001/2022 – County Secretary and Head of Public Service, One (1) Post
Duties and Responsibilities

  • Be the Secretary to the County Executive Committee;
  • Be Head of the Public Service;
  • Be responsible for arranging the business and keeping minutes of the County Executive Committee;
  • Convey the decisions of the County Executive Committee to the appropriate persons or authorities;
  • Ensure efficient management of County Resources;
  • Coordination of County Government activities;
  • Interpret, disseminate, and oversee the implementation of National Government policies;
  • Provide direction and guidance to the public officers in the County; and
  • Perform any other functions as directed by the Governor and County Executive Committee,

Requirements for Appointment

  • Be a Kenyan citizen;
  • Be in possession of a First degree from a University recognized in Kenya;
  • Served in the Public Service in the National Government having held the position of Secretary, or worked for five (5) years at the County level as Senior Administrative or Management level;
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of socio-economic development objectives and plans of Vision 2030;
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of Nyandarua County manifesto;
  • Be a strategic thinker and results-oriented;
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding and commitment to the values and principles as outlined in Article 10 and 232 of the Constitution of Kenya;
  • Ability to work in a multi-ethic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity;
  • Proof of registration with the relevant professional body will be added advantage; and
  • Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.
  • County Attorney

Advert No. NCG 002/2022 – County Attorney One (1) Post
Duties and Responsibilities

  • Representation of the County in legal and civil matters;
  • Policing on administration of justice and the rule of law;
  • Legal policy management;
  • Legal aid;
  • Principal legal advisor to the Governor;
  • Preparation of anti-corruption, ethics and integrity strategies;
  • Give guidance in the National Constitution implementation;
  • Legislative drafting;
  • Preparation of  and vetting of agreements on behalf of the County; and
  • Handling any other legal matters of the County.

Requirements for Appointment

  • Be a Kenyan citizen;
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Laws;
  • A relevant Master’s degree will be an added advantage;
  • Have vast knowledge and experience of not less than seven years in senior position in the public or private sector;
  • Be a member of the legal professional body;
  • Demonstrate thorough understanding of the County’s objectives;
  • Have good communication, organizational and inter-personal skills;
  • Demonstrate understanding and commitment to the values and principles espoused in Articles 10 and 232 of the Constitution of Kenya 2010;
  • Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.

    • Advert No. NCG 007/2022 – Health Services;
    • Advert No. NCG 008/2022 – Education, Children, Gender Affairs, Culture and Social Services;
    • Advert No. NCG 009/2022 – Tourism, Cooperatives Development, Trade and Industrialization;
    • Advert No. NCG 010/2022 – Lands, Physical Planning, and Urban Development;
    • Advert No. NCG 011/2022 – Finance, Economic Planning and ICT;
    • Advert No. NCG 012/2022 – Youth Empowerment, Sports and the Arts.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the administration and delivery of services in the respective Departments and decentralized units;
  • Participate in the planning, formulation, adoption and implementation of the County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP);
  • Implement the County legislation;
  • Implement, in the County, National Legislation to the extent that the legislation so requires;
  • Effectively respond to issues raised by the County Assembly;
  • Advice the Governor on matters relating to the Department; and
  • Undertake any other responsibility as may be assigned by the Governor from time to time.

Requirement for Appointment
For appointment to this post, the candidate must:

  • Be a Kenyan citizen;
  • Be in possession of a First degree from a University recognized in Kenya;
  • A Master’s degree in the field will be an added advantage;
  • Have knowledge, experience and distinguished career of not less than five (5) years in the relevant field to the portfolio of the Department to which the candidate is seeking to be appointed;
  • Have a clear understanding of the diversity, challenges and opportunities within the County;
  • Be a visionary and strategic thinker;
  • Have the ability to work in a multi-cultural environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity;
  • Be conversant with the Constitution of Kenya and all the devolution laws;
  • Have the capacity to work under pressure to meet set timelines;
  • Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya;
  • Be a committed team player in the achievement of the County’s mission and goals; and
  • Should not hold any State or Public Office.
  • Member of the County Public Service Board

Advert No. NCG 013 – Member of the County Public Service Board – One (1) Post
REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCES

  • Be a Kenyan Citizen
  • Be a holder of at least a first degree from a recognized University (Master’s degree in Human Resource Management / Business Administration / Public Administration will be an added advantage).
  • Have knowledge and work experience of not less than five (5) years in Human Resource Management and Administration;
  • Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution on Leadership and Integrity;
  • Understand the diversity of the County;
  • Be a visionary and strategic thinker;
  • Must not be a State or Public Officer;
  • Capacity to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines;
  • Be committed to be part of a team that enables the County Government to achieve its goals.

Terms of Service:  Contract
Salary:        As recommended by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission
